华硕集团取名有一套，许多人不知道，华硕的英文品牌名称「ASUS」其实源自希腊神话中的独角飞马（Pegasus），取意珍贵独特、纯洁的意思。

只不过，18年前，华硕选用Pegasus后半段，化为ASUS，而此次分家时，和硕联合科技英文名字Pegatron，则理所当然融入独角马英文前半段Pega拼音。著名的日本动画片《圣斗士星矢》中，星矢代表的天马座的发音就是Pegasus。

华硕董事长施崇棠最喜欢挂在口头上的就是「师法自然」，取其顺势而为之意。另外，华硕在许多产品品牌策略上，也都跟大自然学习，因此创造许多独树一格的动物理论，让外界津津乐道。

早在18年前华硕刚成立取英文名时，几位创办人为了让公司名字能排在前面，计划以A为英文字开头，最后大家想到了希腊神话中，一只会飞的独角马帕格萨斯Pegasus，因此才有了ASUS。

此次，华硕大分家，以代工为主体的和硕联合科技在取英文名字时，施崇棠表示，索性把独角马英文名字的前半段Pega拿来运用，演化为Pegatron。即使18年后，华硕取名仍未忘记把独角马的精神保留下来。

"Unicorn"源自于希伯来文"re'em，早期古老翻译为"monokeros"，意解"独角"，后来转成英语"unicorn"了。
