A Review of Robinson Crusoe--《
This is a novel by the English author Daniel Defoe, published in 1719. It is one of the most popular adventure novels in all literature. It is the story of Bobinson Crusoe, an Englishman who is shipwrecked in a lonely tropical island. He builds himself a hut, grows his own food, and becomes self-sufficient. After 23 years he meets with a group of cannibals and rescues one of their prisoners, a young native whome he calls Friday.Crusoe and his“man”Friday become close friends, and when they are finally rescued four years later, both return to England.
Robinson Crusoe was partly based on the actual deeds of Alexander Selkirk, an 18th-century Scottish sailor who spent almost five years alone on a desert island. This novel is famous for its lovely details and its expression of belief in man's ability when left alone in nature.

When his parents refuse to let him take at least one journey, he runs away with a friend and secures free passage to London. Misfortune begins immediately, in the form of rough weather. The ship is forced to land at Yarmouth. When Crusoe\'s friend learns the circumstances under which he left his family, he becomes angry and tells him that he should have never come to the sea. They part, and Crusoe makes his way to London via land. He thinks briefly about going home, but cannot stand to be humiliated. He manages to find another voyage headed to Guiana. Once there, he wants to become a trader. On the way, the ship is attacked by Turkish pirates, who bring the crew and passengers into the Moorish port of Sallee. Robinson is made a slave. For two years he plans an escape. An opportunity is presented when he is sent out with two Moorish youths to go fishing. Crusoe throws one overboard, and tells the other one, called Xury, that he may stay if he is faithful. They anchor on what appears to be uninhabited land. Soon they see that black people live there. These natives are very friendly to Crusoe and Xury. At one point, the two see a Portuguese ship in the distance. They manage to paddle after it and get the attention of those on board. The captain is kind and says he will take them 。

I received my discharged papers on April 25,1946. I had survived three years of army service in World War II, and now I was heading home on a train to Newark, New Jersey. The last thing I'd done at the base in Fort Dix was to buy a white shirt at the post exchange--a symbol of my return to civilian life. I was eager to put my grand plan for the future into action. I would return to college, launch my career, and look for the girl of my dreams. And I knew exactly who that girl would be. I'd had a crush on her ever since high school. The question was: How could I find her? We hadn't been in contact for four years. Well, it might take some time, I thought, but find her I would. When the train pulled into the station, I gathered up my bags, tucked my new shirt under my arm, and headed down to the bus platform--the last leg of my journey home. And then, miracle of miracles, there she was, just as I had remember her: a short, slime, dark-haired winsome beauty. I walked up to her and said hello, hoping she hadn't forgotten me. She hadn't. She threw her arms around my neck and kissed me on the cheek, telling me how glad she was to see me. Fortune was truly smiling on me, I thought. It turned out that she had been on the same train, coming home for the weekend from Rutgers University, where she was studying to be a teacher. The bus she was waiting for wasn't mine, but that didn't matter. I wasn't about to let my opportunity slip away. We got on the same bus--hers--and sat together reminiscing about the past and talking about the future. I told her of my plans and showed her the shirt I had bought--my first step toward making my dream come true. I didn't tell her that she she was supposed to be step two. She told me how lucky I was to have found that shirt, since men's civilian clothing was in such short supply. And then she said,"I hope my husband will be as lucky as you when he gets out of the navy next month." I got off at the next stop and never looked back. Alas, my future was not on that bus. Thirty-one years later, in 1977, I met her again at a high-school reunion--not quite so dark-haired, not quite so slim, but still winsome. I told her that my career was going well, that I was married to a wonderful woman, and I had three teenaged children. She told me that she was a grandmother several times over. I thought enough time had passed for me to mention that meeting three decades before--what it had meant to me , and how every detail of it was etched in my memory. She looked at me blankly. Then, putting a coda to half a lifetime of "what ifs," she said,"I'm sorry, but I don't remember that at all."。
History will never forgetHistory will never forget-----after readingWhenever somebody mention the history of the modern china,we will feel it\'s really hard for chinese people to receive. At that time,China was weak, and was invaded by imperialism countries .The Chinese people was suffering the poverty, hunger and trepidation brought by war. However, what harm we most is not the pain of our bodies, but that our country is likely dying out.In many imperialiam countries that invaded China then,Japan is the country which gave China the most terrible damage. When I was still a middle school student,I had known the history about the invasion by Japan .I felt so sad and I hatedJapanese that time. But after reading the book called written by Yu jie,I have another feeling about history and the way we have to go in the future between the two countries,China and Japan. The writer gave us a lot of fact about that。
