A 15-year-old boy remained in custody 这里的意思指 一个15岁的男孩儿处于被拘留（的状态）。
主语 是个boy 谓语是 remained---（这里表示过去式）
remain +ed 是因为 sunday night 。。 这件事发生再过去。
remain (in) 有 在 （某处）逗留的意思。
而 custody 的意思是监管，监控之下。。 是个名词。。
in custody 。。 的意思也就是处于 被监管（---情况）
remain 是持续性动词，不是瞬间动词 （。。貌似是这俩），而且remain 是不及物动词。。。
